The biggest modern threats to health
If I have to name two things that do most damage to our health, they've got to be sugar and vegetable oil. These two devils work together to create most chronic diseases facing modern population. In a nut shell, sugar drives up insulin, insulin is pro inflammatory, and the omega-6 fat in vegetable provides the perfect fuel for inflammation(Eicosanoids).
Adding to this tragedy is the modern production of grain-fed meats. Grain-fed meats are loaded with omega-6 fat and have very little protective omega-3 fats. Ideally we should always go for grass-fed beef and lamb, and wild-caught fishes. And if you have to consume regular supermarket meats, it's a must to supplement with omega-3 fish oils.
