Breaking Mirco Addiction

This is from MDA's weekend links, it really resonates with me -- I have some, if not all, of those addictions. And as for the tips, I can not agree more with them. No self pity, and never blame anything on somebody else or yourself. Be contented with you life, count your blessings, not your misfortunes. Go for small wins, and don't think too much, improvise along the way(very close to what Weick preaches). Believe or not, I've been applying some of those tips in my life, it really makes me a lot more contented with my life.

What are my core values? Without much thinking, I'd list varities, novelty, challenge, conscientiousness, etc. The ultimate goal is to achieve the inner peace without effort, no fears.

And this conluding remak really nails it:

I think the most important part of attempting to break these little micro-addictions is that we keep in mind where they are coming from in the first place. Usually we’re preoccupying ourselves with these dead-end pursuits because we’re trying to avoid something. We fear if we really focused on doing what we want, we might actually achieve it. In the end, we fear our own awesome power. That’s insanity.

Often we use addictions as a way to run away from something we fear it might fail, or it might not turn out to be prefect. and that's the sure recipe for an unhappy life.
